Hi Everyone,

This month started off on a great note. Very good friends of mine received their permanent residency for Malaysia. Their initial thinking was to opt for the Malaysia My 2nd Home program but then they decided that rather than be a perpetual “tourist” so to speak, they wanted to go that one step further and become part of Malaysia on a more permanent basis. It was also a very good reason to have a party! Congratulations Nick & Marley. Nice to see you’re part of the club. I fi nd the longer that I am here, (by the way I’ve been a permanent resident for over 20 years) I’m seeing more expats, after spending their initial time here seriously hinking about taking up either the MM2H program or, as my friends have done, gone that one step further and doing the PR program. What is not to love about Malaysia? The weather? Superb. The food? Even better. Standard of living? Great. Cost of properties? There’s no need for me to go into that one……. Suffi ce to say, as an Aussie I know I can’t buy an open air car park in downtown Sydney for the price I can buy a house or a condo or land here in Malaysia. Enough said. I could go on and on on that subject.

This month our Expat at Home we’ve interviewed is a lovely lass, Sandra Cooper. Now for all of you out there that have some spare time and want to do some voluntary work, please give Sandra a call. They really need good people who are willing to help with the Riding for the Disabled.

I’ve also got to mention The Osmonds. Remember them? Oh admit it! I certainly do and they will be appearing in Genting soon. There’s nothing like a walk down memory lane (even if some of the memories you’d rather forget). They are fabulous entertainers though and you will have a great time and possibly even remember the words…..I’m brushing up before I go to the concert.

Do you know that Jarrod & Rawlins have another new outlet opening? If you are new to KL, you really do have to get you’re A into G (if you are an Aussie, you’ll understand the terminology) and make it a point to visit any of the J & R outlets, you won’t be disappointed. Their selection of food and wines are out of this world.

This month we also have a brilliant article written by Michael Sawkins. Michael hails from Australia originally although grew up here, went to school here and after completing his university overseas made his way back because this is “home”. I’ll be very interested to hear from you all, after you’ve read his article on whether you believe you are a duck, a penguin or a globpin……

On that note I hope you have a great month, enjoy life and enjoy Malaysia, she’s a great place to be.

Cheers
